Create a research project with your own users
Do you have your own pool of participants? The General Dashboard allows you to invite them to your projects using email.
After logging into your methinks business account, follow the steps below to create and run a project with your users:
Step 1: Create a project
- Click on + Create a new project.
- Add the required project details (title, description, project type, and additional features).
- Click on the text field to enter a project title and description.
- Click to select the project type and additional features.
- Click on the text field to enter a project title and description.
- Click on Next.

Step 2: Choose a recruitment type
- In the recruitment stage, select My Users as seen below.
Upon selecting My Users, continue by choosing between requiring participant screening or not for your research project.
Screening required
Invitees will be required to answer screener questions.
Invitees who complete the screener can be sorted manually or automatically with filters.
Note: If you choose “Screening required” you will only be able to send out invitations to your applicants after adding screener questions.
No screening required
All of your invitees will be allowed to participate.

2. Choose between Screening required or Screening not required.
If you have chosen Screening required, follow the steps below:
1. Click to add the recruitment title and description.
2. Click to select the devices that users need to participate in the project.
3. Choose the general population or define your target user criteria.
4. Create screener questions or do it later. If “Screening required” was selected, it’s important to create screeners for the purpose of screening.

Step 3: Compensation details
In part 3 of your methinks project builder, you can see information about payment handling. You are responsible for compensating your own users. Please contact methinks if you'd like methinks to handle the payments.
- Choose the compensation currency (USD, KRW, TWD).
- Input the compensation amount for each selected project task.
Note: If you have selected two project tasks in which one is optional and the other is required, only participants that complete both tasks will be compensated the full amount.
Example below.
For instance, in a research project with 10 participants, 5 of the participants were invited to a 1:1 video interview based on their survey answers, only those who participate in both surveys and interviews will receive full compensation. The remaining 5 participants will only receive compensation for completing the survey.
Note: methinks suggests considering the amount of time and effort a participant needs to take to participate in your study when setting up compensation amounts.
- Select the payment method.
- Click on Next.
Step 4: User agreement (NDA)
In part 4 of your methinks project builder, you can choose to use methinks' standard NDA, add your custom agreement, or choose not to have an agreement in place. If you choose the methinks standard NDA or a custom agreement, participants will be asked to electronically sign it before joining your project.
- Tap on the option that best fits your project requirements. If you choose “Custom agreement”, you can copy and paste your document, and/or type it directly into the text editor.
- Click on Next.
Step 5: Project summary
In part 5 of your methinks project builder, you can edit, review, and confirm your project details.
- To edit a section
1. Click on “Edit”.
2. Make the changes you wish to edit, and click on “Next”.
Complete project creation
- Click on “Complete”.
After clicking "Complete" you will be redirected to the main dashboard and can then start recruiting/adding participants to your project.
